A new leading team of the International Stevia Council (ISC) has been elected today during the General Assembly which has taken place in Stockholm, Sweden.
The new President of the ISC Zanna McFerson from Cargill states “I am honoured to have been elected President of the ISC. The ISC has accomplished a lot since its formation in 2010 and I expect stevia to continue to expand its role in food and beverage. We have several new members and the organisation will continue to grow with the introduction of new membership categories to include associate and affiliate members representing the stevia value chain.”
During the General Assembly, Zanna McFerson from Cargill has been appointed President, Carl Horn from Real Stevia has been appointed Vice-President and Sebastian Winkelhaus from Verdure Science has been appointed Treasurer. The Board of the ISC also includes Larry Fernandes from Ingredion and Jordi Ferre from PureCircle.
More than two dozen representatives of the global stevia industry met in Stockholm for the annual General Assembly meeting of the International Stevia Council. Executive Director of the ISC, Maria Teresa Scardigli is very pleased with the outcome of the General Assembly and says “As the authoritative voice of the global stevia industry, the ISC set an ambitious agenda for the upcoming year. A primary focus involves increasing outreach on the benefits of stevia extracts in foods, as well as expanding the Proficiency Testing Program (PT) which supports companies in their compliance with food regulations by improving their analytical methods. The ISC welcomes a variety of participants in the Program; including members of the food industry, regulatory authorities, academia and analytical laboratories. Plans for the upcoming year also include an International Stevia Council Forum on all things stevia featuring leading experts in the industry”.
